your data
where does our data go?
Where your data is stored is only part of the answer. Where it is processed and who could be required to hand it over also matter. You choose one of three setups:
- standard, hosted in Australia. Our default, at no extra cost: we store and process everything in Australia, AI included, on AWS infrastructure the Australian Government has certified for its own sensitive data. AWS is owned by a United States company, so that country's law could still reach your data.
- Australian-controlled. No company we use to store or process your data is foreign-owned: we run Pyxta for you in an environment of your own, on an Australian-owned host with the same certification. AI runs on Australian-owned infrastructure too, with a different model from our default, but this setup is more costly.
- your environment. Nothing leaves the infrastructure that you control, AI included. On request, we install Pyxta in your own cloud account, in the region you choose, or on hardware you own with no outside connection at all. Your team runs it, or we do, and each installation has its own subscription.
is our data used to train AI models?
No. Whichever AI provider Pyxta uses, we make sure it does not train its models on the data we send it. Pyxta itself learns from your people's corrections by updating your definitions, not by retraining any AI model.
can another client see our data?
No. Each client's data is isolated by the database itself, not just by the application on top of it.
do you hold a security certification?
Not one of our own. In our standard setup, Pyxta runs entirely on AWS, and every AWS service it uses is covered by AWS's SOC 2 Type 2 report on its own controls. The hosts of our standard and Australian-controlled setups are also certified by the Australian Government for its own sensitive data. If you need details, just ask.
who can see and change things in our account?
The people you choose. What each person can do is set by their role. Multi-factor sign-in can be made mandatory for your organisation. Every change is written to an audit log: who acted, what they did and the outcome. If our support staff need to enter your account, you can see it, the access is limited in time, and its start and end are recorded.
does it change anything in our systems?
No. Pyxta works from exported files and from documents, so you may not need to connect anything. Where it does connect to a system, the connection is read-only unless you ask otherwise, and its credentials are stored encrypted.

how accurate is it?
We have not measured accuracy on the live system, so we do not quote a figure for it.
what stops AI making things up?
AI often gets an answer wrong because it has to guess what you mean. Pyxta does not leave it guessing: each time AI reads a document or works out a figure, it is given what Pyxta has learned from your people. In our own test, one AI model gave three different answers to the same question until it was told what we meant; then it gave the right one.
What still slips through, your people can catch. Every answer shows the records behind it and, for anything read from a document, what was read and where. No AI model follows its instructions perfectly every time, which is why that check stays part of how Pyxta works.
are we tied to one AI vendor?
No. Pyxta works with any capable AI model, from any vendor. In live use it has already moved from one AI provider to another without being rebuilt, and everything it had learned from the people using it carried over unchanged.

can we get our definitions out?
The definitions held under your organisation can be extracted on request and by agreement. The extraction itself is quick: one standard database query our staff run. What is released, and in what form, is agreed case by case.
